Where Your Story Comes Alive

The Art of Choosing a Location

When working with me I will always have options curated for you, or go scout out the location before so you’ll know what to expect. I believe in having options that speak to you and foster hopeful anticipation for your photo session.

I travel much of the year from Florida to out West in Wyoming and Colorado. That being said I am always trying to quite literally expand my horizons whether it be on foot, or in climbing shoes.

I’m always in the headspace of “oh thats a unique backdrop” or “oh man the light is going off right now!”

So don’t hesitate to reach out for advice or guidance on a suitable backdrop for you.

Some questions to consider when trying to pick out your setting:

Where do you spend most of your time?

What spaces energize you or make you feel at home?

What mood are you aiming for with your photos?

Dream location?? Lets Do it!

The right location can make all the difference in your photos—it sets the tone, tells your story, and lets your personality shine. Whether it’s a dreamy garden, a bustling city street, expansive desert, or your own cozy home, the place should feel authentic to you.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when choosing a location:

  • Think about your story: Pick a place that reflects who you are, your interests, or your relationship. It’s all about you, not just a pretty backdrop.

  • Consider the light: Natural light is magic! Open spaces, soft morning or evening light, and shaded spots can make your images glow. The mood of your photos can also really be guided by the lighting so bring that up if you are have something in particular in mind (moody vs. soft and light, vibrant/rich in color vs. muted and elegant)

  • Keep it comfortable: If you’re relaxed, it shows in your photos. Choose a location where you can move, breathe, and be yourselves. Chose a space that inspires you or brings you joy!

  • Seasonal vibes: Flowers, foliage, or even cityscapes change with the seasons—think about the mood you want to capture.

  • Meaningful spots: Sometimes the most special locations are the ones with personal significance, like where you first met, your favorite park, or your family home.

Adventure is one of my favorite pastimes—I’m always chasing new experiences and exploring the wonders of this beautifully unique world
